Dhaalu Atoll (Dh.) is located between latitude 3° 01' N and 2° 39' N. Situated about 5km to the south of Faafu Atoll, Dhaalu Atoll has 8 inhabited islands, 2 resort and a number of uninhabited islands. Kudahuvadhoo, the atoll capital capital with over 1500 persons is a fairly large island with basic infrastructure and services including secondary level schools and good medical facilities. This island has the mysterious mounds or Hawittas, which are probably ruins of Buddist temples. There is an old mosque with fine masonry and coral stone carvings and is considered by leading archeologists as a masterpiece in world terms.
Hulhudheli (pop 750) is considered remote in terms of distance as this island is located far away from other populated areas. Ribudhoo or the jewellers island has long been famous for their craftsmanship in producing gold and silver jewelery.
